Fees & funding

Nursery fees & funding

Government-funded hours are provided over 38 term-time weeks. As we operate for 44 weeks a year, these funded hours are stretched evenly across the year to give your child smooth, continuous support.

How our fees work

At Jack & Jill’s Amersham we operate for 44 weeks each year, providing a consistent, nurturing environment where children can thrive. The nursery closes for four weeks in August, two weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter – giving our staff time for training and planning, and families a well-deserved break. We ask for a minimum attendance of 18 hours per week so each child gains the full benefit of our carefully planned curriculum and consistent routines.

Our fees are based on 44 operational weeks per year and are divided into eleven equal monthly payments, with no payment due in August. Monthly fees include bank holidays and public holidays, even when the nursery is closed, as our staffing and operational costs remain the same.

Funding questions

Frequently asked questions

How does nursery funding work?

Eligible families can access government funded childcare hours, which can significantly reduce the cost of nursery places. At our Amersham nursery, we help parents understand the options available and guide them through the simple application process.

Am I entitled to nursery funding?

You can check if your child qualifies for government funded hours through the official government website or by speaking with our team. We can guide you through the application process, helping you access available funding options such as the 15 or 30 hours free childcare scheme.

How do I calculate nursery funding?

Start by checking how many funded hours your child is entitled to each week and multiply this by our nursery’s hourly rate to see your savings. Our Amersham childcare team can help you work out the exact cost based on your chosen sessions and any additional services.

Is nursery funding term time only?

Most government funded hours are provided on a term time basis, which usually means 38 weeks of the year. We stretch these hours across 11 months so that parents can benefit from reduced fees all year round.

What age do you get free funding for nursery?

Most children are entitled to free nursery funding from the term after their 3rd birthday. In addition, eligible children from 9 months up to school age can access up to 30 hours per week for 38 weeks a year. At Jack & Jill’s Amersham, we guide parents to make sure they claim the right funding at the right time.

When do 3 year olds get nursery funding?

3 year olds become eligible for government funded nursery hours from the start of the term following their 3rd birthday. This means that funding could begin in January, April or September, depending on when your child turns 3.
